I joined an impromptu team from work to run this 12,000 person 5K downtown last week thursday. It was so crowded it took me 11 minutes to get to the starting line, and I spent almost the entire distance dodging and weaving. The other guy running with us taped a video flip cam to the … Continue reading “Corporate 5K”
There was frost in the neighborhood yards when I biked to WPHS ball field to join several thousand 1,300 other runners for a 5K through much of my regular training area. I picked up my bib and my electronic shoe chip, shed my sweatshirt and joined the others milling around the start (below). It turned … Continue reading “chilly morning 5K”
I ran this trail 5K again this year, and this time a little more sensibly. I finished in OK shape and ate a bunch of food; they had piles of bagels, bananas and oranges at the finish line. It was a beautiful morning out in the woods. This is the first race I’ve completed since … Continue reading “Wekiva Wilderness 5K”
I ran the Orlando Turkey Trot again this morning. The trot is the first 5k race entered, back two years ago, so its a milestone of sort. There were over 4,000 runners this year, I think the most crowded course I’ve ever been on. I was dodging people until the last mile. I grabbed some … Continue reading “another 5K”
Thats 9.3 miles which will take me about 1hr 45 minutes, for those that are counting. Race starts Saturday morning at 7am.
I finished another one, this was the Real Florida 5K, held in Wekiva State Park. It was a cross country trail run, and pretty dang rugged for someone who does all his training on a treadmill. Linda, Seth and Janice also signed up, Janice and Linda walked it, Seth won a medal for his age … Continue reading “another 5K”
I completed another 5K this am, my second one. It was right in my neighborhood, and I ran into Liz Roby from church. My time was slightly improved from the one I ran last fall, I did about 32 minutes. I took my little camera along, check out the short video clip below.
The florida racing season has come to a close. It was about this time last year that I set my sites on training for Disney. The next big race I plan on is the local OUC half marathon on 12/4/2010, so its been a little hard to keep my weekly motivation up for running. Its … Continue reading “running update”
Mission accomplished. Last January I set a goal to complete the 2010 Disney marathon, and in May I outlined a training regimen to lead me to the 1/10/10 event. I finished yesterday with a time of 5:20. I placed 9,474th out of almost 17,000 finishers. They say above all else, don’t try anything new during … Continue reading “Marathon report”
Last summer I posted on my recurrent corneal erosion (RCE) problem. My cornea issues are not as severe as some have it, as an internet search will reveal, but it has gotten worse in recent months. I keep a log, and it was flaring up about every 2 weeks, most commonly striking in the early … Continue reading “RCE update”
