The size of the bailout is huge, but still, wired magazine mentions that American’s home mortgage debt is in the neighborhood of $11 trillion dollars! That means it would take almost 16 Obama bailouts to retire all that homeowner debt!
Saturday Linda and I are trekking to Gainesville for the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella quarterfinals on the UF campus. There’s not much info about this on the web, but I cribbed this poster from the facebook event site. If you are on facebook, you can read about it here. Two groups from UCF are competing.
The Facebook info:
The concert will showcase SIX talented a cappella groups from across the state of Florida:
AcaBelles- Florida State University
Crescendudes- University of Central Florida
No Southern Accent- University of Florida
Reverb- Florida State University
The Sedoctaves- University of Florida
So Noted- University of Central Florida
The concert will not only include these six competing groups, but also UF’s all-male a cappella group “The Staff” and Gainesville’s own funk band: “Mystery Machine” during deliberations!
Each one of these groups will be bringing their very best to this stage, and you are not going to want to miss out! Tickets can be purchased at the door or on the Varsity Vocals website (http://www.varsityvocals.com/icca/index.shtml).
Tickets are : $7 for UF students, $10 for all other students, and $12 for general public.

This isn’t funny. These seven a-holes were arrested in SW Florida for target shooting at protected waterfowl. 21 bird carcasses were recovered and lots of firearms were siezed. Four of the men are 2008 graduates of the Naval Academy at Annapolis, and are currently enrolled at the Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola in northern Florida.
There was frost in the neighborhood yards when I biked to WPHS ball field to join
several thousand 1,300 other runners for a 5K through much of my regular training area. I picked up my bib and my electronic shoe chip, shed my sweatshirt and joined the others milling around the start (below).
It turned out to be a beautiful morning and a good run, with the rising sun peeking through the trees. By the time I finished, I was down to my t shirt and the temp was in the low 50’s. Its just the start of getting my running groove back. I’ll start serious marathon training this coming summer.
Oh jeez, this is too funny. wonder if its real?
It’s Bob Sr’s big day today, I’ll see him for lunch.
Good lord. 5 y.o. girl allegedly abducted from home in the middle of the night. The home is a double wide trailer in extremely rural Putnam county. The story’s 24 hours old and its already been on Nancy Grace. Another lurid missing child case in my home state.
This is tragic, but here’s what stinks: The missing girl was living with a younger sibling, her father (age 25) and the father’s girlfriend (age 17). The girlfriend first reported the missing child and identified herself as the mother in her early AM 911 call. (The actual birth mother lives in Georgia). The Sentinel also reports that there are 44 registered sex offenders within a 5 mile radius of the home. WTF? Do they have a clubhouse up there or something? Furthermore, players from the Duckett case and the Anthony case are already piling on this one.
IMO there’s an important sex offender a whole lot closer than 5 miles; the FATHER, who is sleeping and cohabitating with a 17 year old girl!. Sometimes I think this state could just break off and fall into the ocean.
